How to Use the SVG to PNG Converter

  1. Paste SVG markup.
  2. Choose a scale multiplier for higher resolution.
  3. Click Convert to PNG.
  4. Download the result.

Uses the Canvas API for client-side conversion. No data leaves your browser.

What is SVG to PNG Conversion?

The SVG to PNG Converter transforms scalable vector graphics (SVG) into high-resolution raster PNG images with transparent backgrounds. It utilizes the browser's native HTML5 Canvas rendering engine, allowing users to specify custom output dimensions, scale factors (e.g. 1x, 2x, 4x for Retina displays), and maintain crisp vector fidelity.

Common Uses

  • Converting vector logos and icons into raster assets for social media and open graph tags
  • Exporting high-resolution app store icon assets and favicon variants from master SVG designs
  • Generating email-safe raster graphics for email templates that block raw SVG files
  • Creating multi-resolution UI buttons and badges for mobile applications

Frequently Asked Questions

Does converting SVG to PNG maintain transparent backgrounds?

Yes. PNG supports full 8-bit alpha channel transparency. Unless you choose to specify a custom background color, transparent areas in your SVG remain completely transparent in the output PNG.

Can I upscale my SVG without losing image quality?

Yes. Because SVG is mathematically defined using vector paths, you can render it at any scale factor (such as 4000x4000 pixels) with crisp edges and zero pixelation.

Is my graphic uploaded to a server?

No. The entire rendering process takes place on your local GPU/CPU via the browser's HTML5 Canvas element. No images are uploaded to any server.

Notes from this implementation

Rasterize at a size you choose

SVG is drawing instructions. PNG is pixels. This page draws the SVG into a canvas at the scale you set and exports the pixels. A scale of 1 on a SVG that uses a small viewBox produces a small PNG. Increase the scale before export if the result will be shown on a high-density screen. Text in the SVG becomes pixels. It will not reflow after export.

Scripts and external images inside the SVG are a security and a correctness problem. A SVG that references a remote image will not look the same if that load is blocked, and a SVG that contains script should not be treated as a picture. Prefer a SVG you wrote or you have read. The canvas export does not keep the vectors. Keep the SVG if you still need to edit shapes.
