How to Use the Markdown to PDF

  1. Type or paste Markdown into the editor.
  2. Choose a font size (default 13px).
  3. Click Generate PDF or press Ctrl+Enter.

The tool renders your Markdown as styled HTML, captures it as a high-resolution image, then embeds it into a multi-page A4 PDF. This means all formatting — headings, bold/italic, code blocks, tables, blockquotes, lists, links, horizontal rules — is pixel-perfect.

Limitation: The PDF contains rasterised text (image-based), so text is not selectable in the PDF. For selectable text, use a dedicated Markdown editor.

What is Markdown to PDF Conversion?

The Markdown to PDF Converter transforms GitHub-flavored Markdown text into beautifully formatted, printable PDF documents. It parses headers, bullet lists, tables, syntax-highlighted code blocks, and blockquotes, rendering clean typography styled for professional documentation, invoices, and developer resumes.

Common Uses

  • Exporting project README files and technical documentation into printable PDF manuals
  • Generating clean developer resumes and CVs from version-controlled Markdown source files
  • Converting meeting notes, sprint summaries, and technical memos for stakeholders
  • Creating offline documentation sheets for software libraries and API guides

Frequently Asked Questions

Does the PDF export support GitHub Flavored Markdown (GFM)?

Yes. It supports full GFM syntax including task lists (`[x]`), tables, strikethrough, autolinks, and fenced code blocks.

Can I customize the page margins and paper size?

Yes. You can select standard paper sizes such as A4 or US Letter and adjust margins to fit your printing requirements.

Is my Markdown content kept private?

Yes. Markdown rendering and PDF assembly occur 100% client-side in your web browser. No document text ever leaves your machine.

Notes from this implementation

Two conversions, then a document

The page turns Markdown into HTML and the HTML into a PDF in the browser. Page breaks follow the PDF library’s rules, not a print stylesheet you designed. A wide table will overflow a page. A code block will not wrap the way the preview page wraps it. Check one page of the PDF before you convert a long note.

Images in the Markdown have to be reachable from the page. A relative path from your laptop is not reachable. Use a data URL or skip the image. The PDF is a new file. It does not round-trip back to Markdown. Keep the source if you will edit the words later.
