How to Use the Image Filters & Effects

  1. Upload an image file.
  2. Choose an enhancement mode (Sharpen, Brighten, Contrast, Grayscale, Sepia, Invert).
  3. Select the intensity level.
  4. Click Enhance and download the result.

All processing is done locally in your browser using Canvas API. No images are uploaded to any server.

ℹ️ Basic filters are free and unlimited in a future update — rate limit will apply to AI upscaling only.

What is Image Filters & Effects?

The Image Filters & Effects tool provides hardware-accelerated, browser-based photo enhancements. Apply real-time adjustments for brightness, contrast, saturation, grayscale, sepia, invert, hue rotation, and blur directly using HTML5 Canvas and CSS filter shaders without uploading your private images to the cloud.

Common Uses

  • Enhancing product photos and social media pictures before publishing
  • Applying retro sepia, monochrome, or high-contrast artistic effects to images
  • Adjusting underexposed or overexposed photography for optimal screen display
  • Preprocessing images for computer vision, OCR, and document scanning pipelines

Frequently Asked Questions

Does applying filters permanently degrade the original photo?

No. All edits are applied non-destructively in canvas memory. You can revert to the original unedited photo at any time before exporting your final image.

Are filtered images exported in full original resolution?

Yes. When you download the finished image, the filter pipeline renders onto a full-scale canvas matching the original source image's native width and height.

Are my personal pictures sent to any server for processing?

No. The entire filter engine runs locally on your computer's GPU/CPU inside your web browser. No image data is ever transferred over the internet.

Notes from this implementation

Filters are pixel math

Sharpen, brightness, contrast, grayscale, sepia, and invert run on the canvas pixel buffer. Sharpen is a convolution that emphasizes edges. It also emphasizes noise and JPEG blocks. Brightness adds to channels and clips at 0 and 255. Clipped highlights do not come back when you lower brightness afterward. Work on a copy.

“Enhance” is not a restoration model. The page does not invent detail that was never in the file, and it does not send the image to a vision API. If the result looks plastic, reduce the amount. Export when it looks right, and keep the original file beside the export.
